What To Wear To Be Confident For A Date

be confident for your date

I am one of those people that becomes so frustrated over what to wear for a date. Seriously! I rummage through my closet and proclaim that I have nothing to wear, even though I have 50 million pieces. It’s so ridiculous but when I settle on that perfect outfit, I light up. The thing is that when you feel good, you look good. When you put on your pair of shoes, you can be confident. I know everyone has that favorite pair of shoes that makes them feel like they can tackle the world. Honestly, I believe it’s that confidence that really channels how well the date could go. You feel positive, excited, and hopeful that this date is going to be really nice. However, this is after you’ve chosen the outfit, right? Well, how do you find an outfit that makes you feel like you can be confident?

Let me tell you a story that I hope will entertain you. I can be incredibly self-conscious about how I look but I think most women go through this, whether they are in college or a post-grad woman. I remember this one particular date where I was just not satisfied with my outfit. Truthfully, I wasn’t really confident and everything about each outfit I tried on did not work for me. Jeans? No. Tank top? No. Blazer? No. Everything seemed all so wrong. The thing is that when I’m not happy with my outfit, it really translates to my mood.

This particular date was a movie date, and although the guy was sweet, I couldn’t relax. I was tugging at my shirt, constantly adjusting my seating position, so completely paranoid that I looked like an idiot. The truth is that I probably looked fine, but I didn’t really have on an outfit that made me be confident.

So, how did this date go? Well, needless to say, I was totally not comfortable and I think it really showed. However, I did go on another date with this guy so it wasn’t a total loss. What did I learn? I learned that it is important to look your best because at least when I don’t, it definitely translates to my overall demeanor. So I want to give you 3 good fashion tips to help you be confident on your date.

Wear Something That Makes You Be Confident

Pick the clothes that you know you feel great in. You know what this means! Pick up your favorite outfit that you think is totally cute and will make you look and feel amazing. For me, I like to wear one of my favorite plaid skirts paired with my favorite grey booties. When I put on an outfit that has one or both of these things, I feel incredibly magical. It honestly is a confidence booster.

Don’t Feel Like You Need Something New

I completely understand if you feel like you need to buy a new wardrobe as soon as possible. I’ve been there for that movie date because nothing was working for me. The thing is to take a breath, step back, and access the situation. Do you really have nothing to wear? The key here is to stay calm and don’t immediately think you need to go on a shopping spree. Chances are that you have something that will have you feeling ready to be confident for your date in no time.

Dress Like Yourself

I am not a fan of changing yourself for a date. I don’t think that’s the way to go, but like any situation, you do want to dress for the occasion. That doesn’t mean that you can’t dress like yourself at all. I’m the type of person that 96% of the time you will find me in jeans and a blouse or a plain dress. However, if I am going on a dinner date, I may opt for something a bit on the dressy side. I want to show my personality through my clothes so I adjust my style to match the required style of the date.

Ultimately, the important takeaway here is what you wear on a date matters, but it doesn’t matter for your date, it matters for you. Try these tips and I guarantee you will feel like you can tackle your next date with ease.

  1. Omg, this post is sooooo not applicable to me because I don’t do dates. I just don’t. Nope. Never. Please no. LOL! The thought alone makes me cringe soooo bad because it’s a situation I’d just be soooo awkward in lol! If I am ever meeting a potential ‘suitor’ (loooool) I definitely dress as ‘me’ as I can – skinny jeans are probable. really enjoyed this post lovely! x
