As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been away for almost a month! This wasn’t my plan at all because I love writing! However, things do happen! So, where have I been? Well, I’ve been around! I recently graduated with my master’s degree and from there my life has changed dramatically. As with many changes, you have to balance what you want to do and what you need to do. Since graduating, adjusting has exactly been a tango between these things. I’m planning the next stage of my life and I had to halt my blog to make way for things that I needed to do. However, I was able to fall in love with writing again.
So, I fell out of love with writing. I thought that perhaps people wouldn’t care that I wasn’t writing nearly as much. However, one day I signed into my blog’s Twitter and I realized that I really do miss blogging. I’m sure some people have felt the same! So, I’ve decided to give advice on what I’ve learned from my time away.
Don’t Force It
Forcing yourself to write is probably the worst thing you can do. Why? Because it comes off forced! When you’re not having a good time writing, it really shows in your work. I’m a huge advocate for quality over quantity. For example, Blogmas was fun and I’m glad I did it, but I also noticed that some posts were stronger than others. You can tell that I was forcing a post to happen rather than writing with a purpose. Falling in love with writing again means not forcing things to happen, which brings me to my next point.
Take Time
Take time, find a hobby, clear your mind! I needed a lot of time to get back to writing again and it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that you’re doing what’s best for you and what’s best for your quality. Taking time really strengthens the bond you have with your blog and after you feel good about taking that time, you know when is the right time to get back to writing again.
Find Inspiration
One thing that helped me get back to falling in love with writing again was simple: inspiration. I started reading articles again and I started thinking about conversations that could be sources of inspiration. However, sometimes life isn’t as exciting all the time! So, try to find inspiration in your hobbies, in new adventures, or in your friends.
Ultimately, like with many things, you will have to adjust to changes. The trick is to not let those changes get you down. I will be very honest about my frustrations. I was completely frustrated about not writing for my blog. Why do I not feel right about this? What can I do? Just doing these three things ultimately helped me get back on track. I personally like to think about my blogging journey as a long-time interest and because of that, I know that I will always have a place to fall back in love with writing again.

Aw I loved this so much! I recently went through a phase – and keep dipping back in to it – where I felt/feel overwhelmed and it takes so long to finish each post, I think I just need to give myself some space and remember quality over quantity haha 😀 loving your articles so much, they really articulate everything I’ve been feeling, I love how you write and it’s so nice to relate! xx
