My Typical Week Of Working Out

My typical week of working out

In February, I had a complete wake-up call. I was super unhealthy, out of shape, and needed a pick me up ASAP. So, I did J.Lo’s 10 day no carb no sugar challenge, which has completely transformed my life. After the challenge, I met with a registered dietician to find a sustainable diet and started working out for about 30 mins almost every day.

I’m someone who gets bored really easily when it comes to working out. Through my experience, I fall off really quickly if I’m doing the same thing every day for long periods of time. So, to keep myself occupied, I do a combination of things every week. Every week and even every month varies slightly. For example, I did Blogilates 28 day summer sculpt challenge all during June. I hope this post will give you some ideas to keep you healthy.

MONDAY

On Monday, you will usually find me at home doing some kind of workout. Recently, I’ve been loving Blogilates workouts so I will do the day’s workout, which you can find in her playlists. My heart rate is pretty easy to go up so even small movements get me sweating.

TUESDAY

Tuesday is gym day. I love/hate gym day, but I push through it because of its rewards. I usually do 20 mins on the treadmill. I will go for a fast paced walk at a steep incline. I find that this gets my heart pumping. Although the treadmill isn’t my favorite, I still do it because walking is very important to me.

After that, I spend a great amount of time strength training. I find that cardio plus lifting weights makes me feel stronger. I don’t have any physique goals, but I do like the gym mainly because I can really focus on strength training there.

WEDNESDAY

I’m back at home with the home workouts. It may be Blogilates or Chloe Ting. Anything cardio related and fun are my go-to.

THURSDAY

It’s back to the gym for me! It’s cardio and strength training. When lifting weights, I really don’t focus on one muscle group. I target pretty much all of them in one day. However, I do more reps on the areas that need more work. For example, I’m not a huge fan of my arms so I do tend to push myself when working those muscle groups.

FRIDAY

It’s a home workout on Friday, but I’m not super intense on this day. After all, it’s the end of the week! Usually, I’m doing some light cardio and I like to focus on abs. My home workouts are never the same as the other days. They may be a similar style, but it’s never exactly the same moves or videos.

SATURDAY

Saturday is my 90 mins Zumba class and it is my favorite day! I fell in love with Zumba about 5 years ago and I’ve recently found my way back. I get such a good cardio workout from this. On top of that, it’s so fun! If you hate traditional cardio like treadmills or running, take Zumba or a dance fitness class. Even though I’m dripping in sweat, it feels so good! However, I would still try to lift weights in addition if you’re looking to tone up.

SUNDAY

Sunday’s are pretty chill. If I feel like it, I will do a home workout. However, I’m most likely doing deep stretching. One of my goals this summer is to be able to do the splits. So, stretching is definitely important.

Working out can be hard. Some days I don’t want to do it. Sometimes I even think about skipping workouts, but I have to constantly remind myself that I want to live a long happy life. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends 150 to 300 mins of moderate intensity exercise per week for active adults. So, getting at least 30 mins of uncomfortable feelings will be beneficial. Also, make sure you consult with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.

Question of the day:
What are your workouts like? How are you working out? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love seeing other’s workout schedules! I usually hit the gym 3 times during the week (I move my free days depending on what my schedule for the week is like). I should probably look into some at home exercises like Blogilates on the days I don’t go to the gym. My gym is very structured which is great but I know I need to switch it up a little sometimes too! Thanks for sharing your schedule!
