The Golden Globes did a really cute first jobs skit of what the actors did before they made their big break. Their first jobs are actually pretty shocking! Now, I don’t know how old these stars were when they go their first jobs, but I think there is something to this! As post-grads we often feel that our first jobs have to be our dream jobs. And even though this may happen for some, it doesn’t happen for all! So after hearing these first jobs by Hollywood stars, it was really inspiring!
I have to admit that some of the jobs were unusual. However, some were very interesting! Amy Adams was a red licorice saleswoman. Sarah Paulson worked at a pizzeria in Brooklyn. It was a testament that anything is possible and that every great and talented person has to start somewhere. Sometimes we forget this because social media has us believing that everyone is having the best life possible. I think this really contributes to our happiness, or perhaps lack of. But clearly, if these stars can overcome obstacles, then so can the post-grads who feel unhappy in their current situations.
I’ve always loved to write and brunch and plan events. When I graduated, I didn’t have a job lined up. So, I decided to start this website! It’s hard because I would love to be in a different situation, but at the same time, I do believe everything happens for a reason. That being said, I really liked hearing Golden Globe nominees express their first jobs. I think it really helped any post-grads who are going through a tough time or those who are not happy with their current situation. Anything is really possible when you work hard and have patience.
