Hello everyone! It’s GG and I want to talk about Black Tap NYC today! You might’ve seen it on Instagram because they’re known for their explosive milkshakes. These milkshakes are actually insane! Imagine an intense sugar rush. I mean, imagine everything sweet that you wanted as a child and it describes the Black Tap milkshake. It’s really glorious and the most outrageous thing to exist in the world. Also, who doesn’t like ice cream? I know we’ve got some anti-sugar crusaders in this world, but if you’re reading this post, then you’re probably interested in knowing what is this thing.
Side note: This is my second restaurant review, check out my first and let me know if you like them!
Where Can I Get A Black Tap Milkshake?
Black Tap has a few locations in NYC: Lower East Side, Soho, Meatpacking, and Midtown. Because Black Tap has exploded, there’s talk of them opening in Dubai. However, I’m going to be talking about my experience at the Soho location on Broome St. I should also mention that I went to this location in May 2016, so some things may be different now.
How Long Do I Have To Wait?
So, I arrived at Black Tap in Soho with my wonderful friend. We were so excited! We got there after class, which was about 2 or 3 pm. As with most Instagram famous places that were never meant to hold many people, we had to queue. Luckily, we were about the 20th people in line. This wasn’t bad at all considering that the line can wrap around the building sometimes. The Soho location is super small, but you might have luck at other locations.
Anyways, the wait was probably an hour and a half. You actually get in faster if you are eating and having a milkshake versus just having a Black Tap milkshake. We didn’t know this so some people behind us ended up getting in first. However, the timestamp on the photo I took above is 4:34 pm. Hopefully, this will help you gauge how long you’ll be standing around here.
How Do You Eat One? And Is It Worth It?
So, how do you concur one of these babies? Well, a Black Tap milkshake isn’t as hard to drink as you think it is. The ice cream is pretty soft so you can easily use your straw to drink it. Then, take a spoon and scrape at the goodies.
I can’t speak about the food at Black Tap. Although, it looks amazing and yummy too! But a Black Tap milkshake is really something you should experience once (if you’re a foodie like me). They’re pretty pricey for a milkshake but I guarantee you’ll get an awesome Instagram photo out of it!
Final Thoughts?
So what do you think of the Black Tap milkshake? Are you going to go try it? Let me know down in the comments!
