NYC Restaurant Reviews: Dinner at Half Pint NYC

Review of dinner at Half Pint

Imagine visiting Ireland to see your American cousin who has just learned to cook a few Irish staples, which are actually U.K. staples. However, this cousin is an amazing cook and it doesn’t really matter how authentic it is because it’s just that good. This is kind of like describing dinner at Half Pint. It doesn’t pride itself on being truly Irish but you get the sense of being in an Irish pub when you step in. It’s kind of like a glorified Irish version of Olive Garden. Olive Garden isn’t a direct reflection of Italian food.

So, some time ago I wrote a Sunday Brunch Bunch post on Half Pint in NYC. However, I’ve had dinner at Half Pint as well. Let me tell you, the dinner is just as yummy as the brunch. No, I’m not being paid to say this. I truly love this place! So, if you’re looking for somewhere to go in Manhattan, try out Half Pint!

So, dinner at Half Pint includes burgers, baby back ribs, and even fish and chips. See what I mean before? No fear, though. Whatever you eat for dinner at Half Pint is going to be good, which is why I’m giving taste an 8. If you’re an American like me, go for the fish and chips. I love them so much! However, I’ve never had fish and chips from the U.K. so Britains beware!

The Half Pint is in a really great location as it’s not super busy like some streets (*cough Broadway *cough*), and it’s right at NYU! Inside is pretty dim. I mean this is definitely a pub atmosphere. However, this is what makes it quite charming! I understand that it’s a hit or miss for some people, but the food menu is the same for lunch if you want to swing by for lunch! However, brunch is served until later in the day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Now, the service can be good or bad depending on who is working. I’ve had some really good waitstaff and some not so good. Generally, speaking I would say that the quality of service is fairly good.

Dinner at Half Pint is fairly reasonable if you aren’t going to drink. But this is practically everywhere, right? You’re going to spend about $11-$30 depending on how many drinks you get. My average at this place is $15, which is pretty good considering that it’s New York. Do you get the most value for your money? Yes and no depending on how you look at it. If you get some of the smaller items then probably not. However, if you get a burger and you’re not very hungry or you get full quick, you can get away with splitting it and saving the rest for breakfast or lunch. This kind of brings down your spending to around $8 a meal.

So what do you think? Will you visit The Half Pint for dinner? Let me know in the comments!
