Too Scared To Take Risks | New Blog Series

too scared to take risks

A while ago, it was my 23rd birthday. Although I had a great birthday, I also wrote a post about being scared to grow up. In that post, I mentioned how much I felt like I had missed out on some fun things because I was too scared to take risks. For example, I studied abroad in France and Italy. Both times I had the opportunity to go visit London and Greece, but I was just too scared to travel alone. I had such an amazing experience and I’m so grateful for it, but I often wonder what would’ve happened if I had taken the plunge and took the risk.

After a lot of thinking, I decided that I don’t want my 23rd year to be riddled with missed opportunities because I’m scared to take risks. So, I had the brilliant idea to get myself out of my comfort zone! I’m calling it the Risk 23 series and I’m hoping to release a new post as part of the series every week. Slowly and slowly I’m warming up to this whole risk-taking thing. However, on the other hand, I am completely terrified! Honestly, I would be lying if I said that I was thinking about not doing this series at all. So, please show some support and love in the comments if you think you’ll like this series!

Why Call It The Risk 23 Series?

As you may be able to guess, I am naming this series the Risk 23 series because its birth comes from turning 23. I may cap the series off after 23 posts, but I also might extend it beyond that. To be honest, a lot of situations make me uncomfortable but I think this Risk 23 series will give me an opportunity to let loose a bit. The time for being too scared to take risks is coming to an end (maybe).

What Are The Rules?

I have to have a bit of structure to this new blog series because that’s just the way I am. Also, I want a sense of uniformity among the posts in this category. So, each post has to answer these questions or a variation of these questions:

  • How was your day/week?
  • What did you do?
  • Did you learn anything new about yourself?
  • How did you feel about this risk before?
  • How do you feel about this risk now?
  • Why did you pick this risk?
  • Would you take this risk again?
  • Additional comments?

When Does Risk 23 Start?

Believe it or not, but the Risk 23 series starts on the 1st of November! That’s only two days away! The first post will be about going to a party alone so, keep a look out for it! Additionally, this post will act as a centralized place where all post of the series will be listed!

  1. I loved this post. I’m only 19 (nearly 20) but I too feel that I’m too scared to take risks and as a result miss out. I really looking forward to reading your expereinces! Might give me the courage to take more risks as well! Lovely post and I love your blogs design! x

  2. This series is so cool! I can relate to it, taking risks used to be a major fear of mine because the thought of rejection is too painful. But once I became more confident in my abilities and loved myself just a little bit more, risks didn’t see so bad in fact they’re quite exciting 😉 Lovely post, can’t wait to learn more 🙂

  3. Loving this idea!! There are so many things that I can feel nervous about!! I love the quote ‘better to say oh well than what if”. Whenver I feel anxious I just put myself in the oh well mindset, whatever happens happens, at least I did it.
